About Me
Hi Y’all, happy you found me! My name Amanda Berry. I was born here in Colorado and grew up in Evergreen surrounded by the forests where I naturally felt an affinity towards plants from a young age. At the age of 17, I moved myself to Chicago and lived there for 11 years. During my time in Chicago, I felt a lack of nature but a pull towards understanding and healing within communities in all capacities. I found myself in such an amazing role; growing food and teaching folks from all communities around the city how to grow their own food. Through this work, I felt a deep connection to the autonomy we have in our own healing, and more so how food and plants play a significant part. As an urban farmer, I helped run and manage urban farms all around the inner city, teaching folks of all ages how to understand plants and really get to hold space for them in their life. I was able to build a community around plants and their wonder. A couple years before moving home, I fell very sick. Doctor visit, after ER visit, I spent years trying to get to the bottom on unknown health complications that had completely taken my life away. I had to move away from farming and work all together for some time. Lucky enough, I was able to find an amazing holistic practitioner here in Denver when I moved back.
I was diagnosed with late stage Lymes disease at least 3 years from the start of my sickness. Through my journey to healing, I have leaned very much into plants for all their knowledge and giving. Through my own healing, I became so intertwined to plant medicine and its ability to help me gain my life back. Finally, after regaining so much of my strength after years of fighting for my able body, I decided it would be against my being to not share this gift with others. I became a certified Herbalist here in the state of Colorado through Herbalism Roots certificate program. I definitely hold a big space in my heart and practice for sharing all my plant alies and healing modalities as it relates to my Lymes disease and do have a line of products and zine dedicated to that alone.
I feel so honored to get to share this gift with each person whom I cross paths with. I have learned a lot about routine, consistency, getting back to my roots in order to feel like myself again. But furthermore, I have developed a deep spiritual connection to the world around me, its ability to provide all the things that I was needing in a time of uncertainty. I feel as if I owe my life to plants and the ability to get to share their unique capabilities with my community. Through this work , I can promise a dedication to learning and challenging myself to help you find a balance of wellness in your life through herbal medicine; big or small, and everything in between.
